So I was in Brighton last week for the Case Europe Conference. I could only stay for 2 days because I had to start a job (more on that later) and as soon as it started I felt that I would be sorry about that. The first day was for the newcomers. Europe's alumni relations is really doing its babysteps... I knew that I had been well trained at Carnegie Meelon but I didn't imagine I was so so amazingly so.
It was really impressive though to see what some accomplished with such little teams. Granted, some schools have a very small alumni population.
I met some very nice people from Norway, Bulgaria, Finland, South Africa... Some came from Ghana, New Zealand, Singapore...
The number one thing I will remember from the conference is DATA DATA DATA. Everybody was complaining about their poor data and bad database. The number 2 is Harmony. We have to work in harmony with our colleagues from the other discipline. For this purpose the introduction to the main conference was a singing lessons where the conductor had the 950 participants sing in unison. Yes! it was fun and we did sound good.
As number whatever, I would say that people who work in our "industry" as very good looking ;-)
