a shortcut to mushrooms

Last week-end, I traveled to the Bordeaux region called « Le Bordelais ».

The Bordelais is one of the many regions in France where one can eat VERY well. As a girl, I spent many vacations in the region, and I remember fondly going on a hunt for mushrooms and the large, dark « Tobacco Barns » still present near old houses … Bordeaux is famous for its porcini. You can just walk in a forest and pick some. Of course, when you don’t know what you are doing, it’s better to show your bounty to a pharmacist. He will inform you of the potential dangers of your potentially lethal delicacy.
We went for a walk in the forest, going where no path was visible to insure that no one would have gone there before us to pick up the chanterelle we were looking for.

The mushrooms were eaten with some sauted potatoes and duck legs. yum! Dessert consisted of some freshly picked-up cherry from the garden cherry tree.

Bordeaux is a very pretty town with a very posh side. It seems that there is a town square every two blocks.

It's located to the banks of the Garonne River, one of the main rivers in France, leading to the Atlantic Ocean.

One thing I noticed during the short stay was that many people seemed to wear white and light colored cloths. I guess, if I noticed it, it’s because they don’t in Paris.

I also noticed that the trip back to the French capital is getting harder and harder every time I go away.

And, Yes! Bordeaux is famous for its wine too.

This post is dedicated to the strange and french gator.

And you've lived here only one year...

I'm definitely looking for a job in Bordeaux if I don't leave the country for my next move... Memories, memories..
