BicyFree is a personal attempt to translate "Velib'".Velib' is the name given to the free bikes you can use within Paris. It's the contraction of Vélo (bicycle) and Liberté (freedom).
The Velib' is one of the public mean of transportation you can use in Paris.
The others being the dreadful Metro, the enjoyable but slow Buses, and the still being tested Vogueo boats.
To use the velib you have to pay a minimal fee... 5 euros for a week for 30 minutes rides, after that it's 1 euros per half hour... I think. I still have not figured everything.
It was an experience... I wasn't scared as much as I would think of the cars around me. I mostly used the bike/bus/taxi corridors and felt safe.
I was though very annoyed by all the one way streets, and the closed streets and the side walks. i do not like riding to close to them even though it would make the cars around me happy.
