It's for a survey

I went there to buy some yoga pants and funky t-shirts.
When it was time to pay there was someone ahead of me.

girl@register : "We are doing a survey, may I ask your age please?"
girlAhead: "yes, i am 24"
Then it's my turn.
girl@register : "We are doing a survey, may I ask the age of the person who will wear those?"
I hesitated for a second, I had to register the semantic changes.
Céline : "... uh...it's for me...34" Was I allowed to shop for myself there?
