See, what's written in parenthesis is not a translation in English for dumb American tourists, but the alternate name of the painting. Alternate name which is in... Italian!!!!
So if spelling mistake there is, it's in the English version of the name that is nowhere to be seen near the painting.
OK, the original name in Italian is "La Gioconda" ("La Joconde" being a French translation/adaptation) but the alternate name is -technically in every language- "Monna Lisa"
The second 'n' got dropped in recent years for whatever reason.
Is there a language were Mona Lisa takes 2 "n"?

heyyyyy! i did check on wikipedia and it was with only 1 n...
and i thought that in italian it was :
La Gioconda
